A level preparation: Interview with bear attack victims

Around a week ago as of the time of writing this post it came to my attention that a couple who are family friends of mine had an encounter with a bear in which the animal entered their backyard. A few days ago i set down with them in a vary loose interview were we talked about the incident and they gave me permission to share the information on my blog and to use both it and the recording they made of the bear in their yard at night.

I will not name the couple in question but i will say that the encounter was partially due to the fact that they live next to my towns forest in a scarcely populated area. When asked about it they said that due to their familiarity with the bear as part of the natural ecosystem in which their home is located they were not particularly frightened by the encounter, if anything they were more scared for the wellbeing of the family dog than their own. Their bravery is due to a few precautions they took for a similar eventuality. They keep pheasants and other birds but because they live next to a forest and have to look out for foxes who would try their luck at the birds all of them are well protected in their cage. The bear was also not violent and appears to have just wondered onto the premises and wondered off in a similar way.
