I decided to take two interviews instead of one which is required in the A level media exam process. I based my decision on the simple fact that I could not find just one person with the knowledge of both technical and gear experience and also being a biology expert regarding bears. I needed guidance in both these matters, so I will conduct two separate interviews with a well known reporter/director of the local TV and one with a biologist from the NGO I worked with last year. These are the questions I prepared for the technical interview I will take this month. It will be interesting to do the talk with Horatiu Mihail Sermesan from TVR Romania.
1. In your expert opinion, what kind of preparations/activities/actions are needed before one start making a documentary?
2. What are the necessary steps in making a documentary about nature and wildlife?
3. What kind of basic equipment is needed to make a short film about a bear sanctuary in the forest?
4. Do you have any tips to add tension to something such as filming at a bear sanctuary which could easily come across as boring?
5. How should the short film be edited?(As in what do you think would be the most important aspects of editing such a short film?)
6. How would you do the opening and the ending?
7. What camera shots would be good for a film like this?
8. What other advice do you have for me in this project?
